- Springtime Oaks
During an early Spring hike in Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park in northern California, I saw these magnificent oak trees, backlit by the late afternoon Sun. (March 28, 2021. Nikon D7200, 1/1600s @ f/3, 27mm, ISO 100.) - Mount Albert

- Australian Golden Orbweaver
While visiting the 30 Degrees South, 148 Degrees East “Degree Confluence Point” in rural New South Wales, Australia, I encountered several of these large (but fortunately harmless) Australian Golden Orbweaver spiders. - Skyline Arch, Arches National Park, Utah
Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah, is a photographer's paradise - especially near sunset, when this photo was taken. (May 7, 2009. Nikon D-5000 (DSLR), 1/160s @ f/6.3, 29mm, ISO 200.) - Mauna Kea Observatory (Hawaii) at sunset
I didn't think much of this photo when I first took it, but later, I realized that the composition and lighting seemed close to perfect. (December 18, 2010. Nikon D5000, 1/30s @ f/11, 22mm, ISO 220.) - Pakiri Beach

- "Machine" - Black Belt!
In July a good friend and training partner Justin "Machine" Holder - after more than 8 years of training - was awarded a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Ralph Gracie. (July 2, 2009. Nikon D-5000 (DSLR), 1/100s @ f/3.5, 18mm, ISO 400.) - "Field of Light"
In June 2019 I attended the "Field of Light at Sensorio" outdoor art exhibit near Paso Robles, California, USA. (June 12, 2019. Nikon D7200, 1/10s @ f/5, 18mm, ISO 25600.) https://www.sensoriopaso.com/ - The Three Sisters
My favorite drone photo of 2017 was this view of the 'Three Sisters' sea stacks on the northern coast of New Zealand's Taranaki region. I like the way that the line of cliffs and waves leads your eye towards the horizon. (December 22, 2017. DJI Mavic Pro, 1/4115s @ f/2.2, 4.73 mm, ISO 100.) - Ward Charcoal Ovens
These ovens - in a remote part of Nevada, USA - were used in the late 1800s to prepare charcoal for use in nearby silver mines. I like the composition formed by the line of identical ovens, receding into the distance. (June 2, 2014. Nikon D5000, 1/1600s @ f/5.6, 16mm, ISO 200.) - Antibes
