No, that's not a typo. The highest point in Australia really is at only 7,310 foot elevation - about the same elevation as Donner Pass. (And the name really is Mount Kosciuszko; the explorer who named it in 1840 was Polish.) This is an easy 4 mile each-way hike on a paved and iron-mesh trail.
